Free Summer Park Concert: "The Island Trio" Steel Drums

The very first edition of our 2004 Summer Park Concert Series will feature the beautiful tropical sounds of steel drums and melodies of the islands. What a fantastic way to start off the summer and enjoy some great music with one of Charleston’s favorite groups.

Free Teen Art Workshop Series: The City’s Artist-in-Residence for 2003/04 Nancy Rodriguez will provide instructions to teens on the basics of artistic expression through various mediums during free art workshops. Please call the Cultural Arts Department at 745-1087 to pre-register in order that sufficient supplies are on hand for each session. Individuals, groups, and home-school students are welcome.

Children’s Summer Theater Program

Educational and fun for preschool to sixth grade. Performances start at 10:00 AM and run approximately one hour. Groups and individuals are invited to attend. Tickets are $2 with chaperones admitted FREE! Call 745-1087 to make group reservations and for more information.

Visual Art Teen Workshops – (1st Friday only) - ongoing * Due to the July 4th holiday, the workshop for July 2nd is rescheduled to July 9th.

  • Open to the public. Workshops are being offered FREE of charge to area teens. Led by this year’s Artist In Residence, Nancy Rodriguez, teens can explore a variety of art mediums and techniques. Free and open to tri-county teens and visitors. The class series are held on the first Friday of the month at Sterett Hall. Summer hours are 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Supplies are FREE!
